Megha passed away from breast cancer in October 2020. We are so grateful to have her classes here on FCBD®U, so the world can continue learning from her.

A lifetime of dance, and a community built around it
Megha began performing very early in life. She took her first dance classes at about the age of four and never stopped creating and performing. Theatre soon caught her attention, and it was her passion throughout her school years.
In 1996 she discovered FatChanceBellyDance®Style (formerly known as American Tribal Style®) and immediately shifted her focus to this art form. In San Francisco, she studied FCBD®Style with the originator of the style from 1996 to 1998. When she returned to the Southeast, she began teaching classes to create a community of people to dance with. She was the first to offer these classes in her region, and she taught pure FCBD®Style for more than twenty years.
In 2003 Megha completed teacher certification with Carolena Nericcio, creator of FCBD®Style and founder of FatChanceBellyDance®, and entered into an exclusive partnership with her. Under Megha’s direction, her troupe Devyani performed at countless festivals, weddings, corporate events and private parties, and was nominated for multiple cultural and artistic awards.

Megha gave so much to all of us. To honor her memory, her classes are free for our whole community, a small way of keeping her spirit dancing alongside us.
